More and more people want to live in the cities. At the same time, the amount of people per household is decreasing. People feel more and more lonely in their small apartments. This phenomenon is asking for new ways of living. The goal was to develop collective ways of living in an urban environment to improve the life of the inhabitants.

The site is located at the Lagerhausstraße, close to the Isar, and right next to the restaurant Alte Utting. The assignment in this studio was to develop a building where different types of collective living could take place and research the increase of density of inhabitants in Munich. In this building, we developed satellite apartments, collective living, studios and family apartments.

The project contains different apartment types for 850 inhabitants in total, two supermarkets, two gym rooms and a parking garage. The ground floor has big spans and refers to the big market halls located on the south of the site. The volume with the apartments is comb-shaped and starts at the first floor. The resulting innergartens provide space for the collective activities of the inhabitants. All the living rooms are always directed to the innergarten, the private rooms (such as bedrooms) are directed to the outside.
