The recent pandemic has made us reconsider the way we live, the way we work, the way we inhabit public space. Questions arise, such as: What is density today? What is sharing today? What is living today? What is working today? These are times of transition where needs are being redefined. We considered the implications of the corona pandemic on the daily lives of people, on architecture and the city. There is the challenge to RETHINK the way we design, to RESHAPE forms of living in order to RESHARE collective space. The task was to design collective housing at the light of the new needs and wishes, such as the need to work from home, the need to mix work and family life, the need to exercise, the wish to enjoy outside space without leaving the home and the wish for biophilic design.
FROM YOUR TERRACE Before the pandemic, activities of people were on the streets, in parks, in companies, in everywhere of the city. ’Home’, to some extent, was just a place for rest. And at the same time, the importance of the terrace has also been ignored, people were more use them to pile up sundries. But on the contrary, during the covid 19. Most activities of people are very limit to homes, people start to use the terrace to do communication with the outside world. We were inspired by this phenomenon and just start with the terrace. We think terrace is the flexible space of a house, and more activities of people should be extended to the terrace, thus people can be more enjoyable while staying at home. According to different units, four types of the terrace are created. For example terrace as entrance garden, cold terrace and warm terrace, interactive terrace in shared unit. And because of different positions of the terrace, the space of each unit can be more interesting. For the structure, we mainly use the frame structure. The main structure of the building is kept in the middle and the terrace , which supported by cantilever beams is around the building .
